If you are new to the beautiful world of watercolor painting and would like to learn basic watercolor techniques, this class will cover the three properties of color, transparency, composition, flat, gradient and variegated washes, wet-in-wet, dry brush, as well as color mixing, glazing exercises, and creative projects.
Instruction will be provided on: which materials to choose and why; how to mix the correct ratio of pigment to water; how to hold and work with brushes; and which papers to use. Students will be guided on materials to choose. This class is limited to 10 students for individualized instruction, and there are no materials fees.
Materials Recommended (This is a suggested list and many colors are optional, except the *primary colors in warm and cool which are needed for mixing More information regarding the choice of colors will be covered in class)
Water color sets, warm and cool primary colors either pans or tubes
*Yellows (warm and cool)
Orange
Vandyke Brown
*Reds (warm and cool)
Permanent Rose
Purple Magenta
Violet
*Ultramarine Blues (warm and cool)
Cobalt Blue
Sap Green
Palette or plate to paint on
Variety of soft bristle brushes
Watercolor paper hot press and/or cold press 140lbs
Water containers, spray bottle, paper towel
Masking tape
